The Chishang Fault is a well-known earthquake fault in eastern Taiwan. It stretches from the southeast of Hualien’s Ruisui to the southeast of Chishang, particularly in the Jin Yuan Village area. Continuous tectonic movement causes this region to steadily rise at a rate of nearly three centimeters per year in height. It is currently the location with the most significant fault activity and the most visibly distinct characteristics globally. It has also become one of the key focal points for domestic and international earthquake research. The Chi-shang Hakka Industry Exchange Center (Earth Calf Pavilion), previously operating as the Chishang Visitor Center under the Longitudinal Management Office, is now managed through a combination of academic and tour-guide services. The second floor of the Earth Calf Pavilion will be equipped with five crustal deformation measuring instruments installed on-site by Academia Sinica, providing environmental education information to the public and supporting international academic research. The first floor hosts permanent exhibits and occasionally hosts various Hakka cultural activities. In addition to promoting Hakka culture, it integrates the local geological features of the area, forming a unique, locally distinctive tourism highlight!
