Central Park occupies a prime location in Kaohsiung City, bordering the Wufu Commercial District and connected to the Shinkuchieh, Datong Department Store, Dali Department Store, and Hanshin Department Store. This lush green oasis spans 12.7 hectares, with zones including an artificial lake, a garden maze, and the Water Dance Plaza, perfect for relaxing after a meal. Standing atop the grassy areas looking southward, you will see Kaohsiung's southern skyline of skyscrapers like the Eight Five Building and the Hana Hotel. On the park's southern side, the Urban Light Gallery, a collaborative project with multiple artists, has created a new art and leisure corridor. Its 2001 opening greatly inspired urban aesthetics and imagination in Taiwan. To the north of the park, the Kaohsiung Literary Museum and the Li Yongke Memorial Library offer excellent quiet environments for reading. The design concept of the Central Park MRT Station is "Modern Kaohsiung," designed by British architect Richard Rogers. The sleek white canopy and golden yellow slender pillars convey an uplifting design imagery named "Flying." This white canopy not only adds a modern fashion style and architectural beauty to the Central Park Station, but also incorporates a special rainwater collection system. Rainwater is guided into a staircase waterfall within the station. Under the sunlight and flowing water, surrounded by walls of green plants, the station is transformed into a natural and fresh setting akin to a forest, earning extensive admiration and attention from international media. The construction of the Central Park Speech Square, combined with park facilities, includes the setup of a soapbox, where anyone standing up on the soapbox may freely express their opinion, fulfilling the basic human right of freedom of speech.
