Port Village serves as the gateway to Manzhou Township. Gueikou Creek and Gueikou Suspension Bridge are significant landmarks of Port Village. If you wish to experience the captivating primitive landscape of Gueikou Creek, the bridge is renowned as the longest pedestrian suspension bridge. Visitors standing on the bridge can admire the magnificent view of the creek meeting the sea. During mornings and evenings, the suspension bridge offers breathtaking sights of changing cloud formations and the seamless merging of sky and water. In winter, reduced rainfall causes the creek to become the "Miukouchih Stream" as the flowing water disappears into the estuary covered by a vast sandy bar. In earlier times, crossing the bridge did not incur a fee; however, it is now managed by Manzhou Township Government for environmental preservation. A NT$10 cleaning fee is required to cross the bridge, and collected fees partially subsidize local children's education.
The White榕 Garden is located at the "Hengchun Forestry Research Institute's Gueikou Field Station." The White榕, also known as Weeping榕, is named for its gray-white trunk and aerial roots. A member of the mulberry family, this tree thrives in warm, humid, primary low-altitude forests, predominantly found in the Kenting area. Resembling the banyan tree, the White榕 has larger leaves—reaching up to 14 cm—and develops extensive aerial roots and support roots. In moist environments, White榕 absorbs moisture from the air through its aerial roots, which rapidly grow toward the ground and gradually thicken into support roots. Over time, a single White榕 tree produces countless support roots, forming a vast landscape where it becomes hard to identify the original parent trunk. This phenomenon inspired its name, "A Forest from One White榕 Tree." Covering over 800 square paces with 300-400 aerial roots, its grandeur is so immense that it resembles a cluster of White榕 trees. The White榕 Garden does not have fixed opening hours, and the field station restricts vehicle access. We recommend contacting the research institute in advance for visitation arrangements.
