Tea and pastries in a nostalgic old cinema: originally built as a theater in the late Qing dynasty, it was later remodeled into a Western-style building and eventually closed with the rise of television. Its lofty interior is still preserved, and it now hosts occasional cultural performances. Sitting inside for tea and pastries is a favorite pastime of the older generation. Zhenxing Cinema was built in 1954, when movie screenings were all the rage and the house was packed daily; once television became common, business plummeted and the cinema closed.
