Rongti Shuiwan was taken over by the Shuiwan Group in 2007. Combining the beauty of the greater Tamsui area, it looks out to Guanyin Mountain in the distance and embraces the Tamsui sunset up close. Distinctive red brick, thatch, and wood shingles transform Rongti Shuiwan into a villa-style destination with an international flair. The name “Rongti” (“Banyan Embankment”) comes from its location beside an embankment and an old banyan tree. Inside stands a police watchtower from the Japanese colonial era, once used by Japanese river police to monitor river traffic; today it is part of the indoor dining area and contains a vintage black heater that is switched on in winter.
