A settlement born of water - Shancanbi Village (Toad Hill) Whuanmin New Village: The Shancanbi (Toad Hill) settlement is situated at the southern tip of the Taipei Basin, adjacent to the National Taiwan University Gongguan commercial district. The Whuanmin New Village, built along the hillside, is currently the only intact military dependents' village preserved in Taipei. The community has a strong awareness of cultural preservation, making it an ideal place to practice presenting historical appearances in a community-based manner. On its unique spatial terrain of ecology, community building, education, and architecture, from reviewing the stories of the military dependents' village era and preserving neighborhood mutual assistance functions to incorporating natural resources and developing environmental learning paths, Whuanmin New Village will evolve into a sustainable mountain city military dependents' village. It will become the best model for Taipei's mountain city military dependents' villages, enriching the cultural connotation and local memory of the southern part of the city.
