Hsinchu City has the largest coastal wetland in Taiwan - Xiangshan Wetland. Due to the flushing of the Qianxi River to the north, the KeYa Xi and YanGang Xi rivers in the middle, and the salty Gang Xi river to the south, a rich amount of organic matter gathers at the mouth of the ocean. This makes the river mouth full of life and rich in species. In addition, during the rising and falling tides at Xiangshan Beach, an intertidal zone of 800 to 2000 meters wide and 10 kilometers long is formed. The mangroves are scattered and very suitable for attracting crabs and mudskippers as habitats. It also attracts a large number of wading birds (waterfowl) to forage here. Every winter, a large number of migratory birds come to Taiwan to spend the winter, and they like to enjoy a big meal here. Even rare bird species from the north, such as Red-crowned Crane, Swan Goose, and Black-faced Spoonbill, have visited here. This place is a treasure trove of natural ecology.
