The Double Spring Coastal Recreation Area is an ecological recreation site located in North Gate, Tainan. The park is planned with a mangrove observation area, featuring Taiwan's four precious native mangrove species: Sea Holly, Kandelia candel, Grey Mangrove, and Red Mangrove (also known as Five-Li-Jiao). It's a great place to visit with children to learn about Taiwan's unique ecosystem. Before becoming a recreation area, this place was mainly used for fish pond farming, and the area was called Yongchun. Later, the area was expanded, and Inner and Outer Yongchun were formed, which eventually became today's "Double Spring". The Double Spring Coastal Recreation Area has two wooden boardwalks, north and south, built between the mangroves and windbreak forests, allowing visitors to observe the wetland ecosystem up close. In addition to mangroves, the area is also home to fiddler crabs, mudskippers, and water birds, making it a charming destination. The mangrove ecological boardwalk creates a green tunnel, similar to the Si Cao Green Tunnel, but unlike the latter, Double Spring's green tunnel is a land-based version, where visitors can leisurely stroll and experience the romantic atmosphere surrounded by lush greenery. Apart from the mangrove ecological trail, Double Spring Coastal Recreation Area also boasts a beautiful golden sandy beach, where many travelers come to admire the sunset over the horizon during the twilight hours. There's also a waterfront starry sky campsite, with pure white tents situated by the sea, offering a picturesque view.
