Donglong Palace’s Donglong Hall Health Shop, “Gua Ling Gao” is the flagship product most people rave about. “Gua Ling Gao” is a health food used by the royal court and aristocracy of the Qing dynasty in China, typically enjoyed as a sweet dessert after a meal. Because authentic Gua Ling Gao is usually only available in Hong Kong or mainland China, Taiwanese customers can only taste the true flavor when it’s imported from those places. To allow people in Taiwan to easily enjoy the most authentic Gua Ling Gao, a young owner, Mr. Shi Yiqi, left for mainland China many years ago and apprenticed under the Northeast master Jian Yuxin, who was over eighty, to learn the proper traditional brewing technique.
