The "Ship-shaped Fort" (E-037), located at Houshanwan Beach in Jinfeng, Kinmen, stands three stories high. Underground tunnels connect it to left and right underground bunkers. Its name stems from its appearance resembling a warship, and it is also called "Hushan Fort." The bow of the fort points onto the shore, creating an interesting scene where a large ship appears to be coming ashore. This fort, which previously supported the upper and lower observation posts at Henshehua (E-034) and Hou Bian (E-042), served as a deceptive military structure to mislead enemy forces. Now freed from its defensive role, the front of the Ship-shaped Fort features up to three layers of railway track fortifications, making it visually striking. This strangely shaped fort is a rare military site in the Kinmen area and a popular destination for many tourists. The internal inscription "Determine to perish with the position if necessary" displays the perseverance and dedication of soldiers living and dying as one nation while defending the island. After restoration by the Kinmen National Park Management Office, it officially reopened on January 18, 2019 AD, renewing the fortress with new vitality as a case of reactivating and reusing a military heritage site. The colorful mural wall features a representative Kinmen architectural icon Juguang Building, Deming Building, the classic inscription "Do Not Forget Juguang" on Dahu Mountain, the adorable native animals such as the golden masked kingfisher (Ryukin koshiki), black-throated gull, river otter pup, and groups of storks flying overhead. This artwork by illustrator MC integrates his self-created characters with elements of Kinmen's culture and features a rich composition that captures the viewer's attention!
