新北市瑞芳區金瓜石金光路8號
The history of Jinguashi mining and gold are the core themes, integrated with the local settlement patterns, mining history, local culture, and ecological landscape. The Museum of Gold is the first museum in Taiwan to be based on the concept of an eco-museum. Since its opening in November 2004, the museum has been committed to sustainable resource management and eco-tourism, while also combining community efforts to preserve the precious natural ecology, mining sites, landscape features, historical memories, and cultural assets of the Jinguashi and Shuinan Cave areas, and giving them a new look. The Jinguashi area is not only a place with captivating natural scenery, but also a place full of touching stories and living memories. The century-long history of gold mining is scattered throughout the Jinguashi settlement and surrounding mining areas, leaving behind many old buildings, tunnels, and mining tools from the gold mining era, which testify to the economic activities and history of East Asian mining in the first half of the 20th century. The artifacts from the Taiwan Metal Mining Corporation, which operated during the Nationalist government period, record the details of gold mining after World War II.
