Shengming Palace primarily worships Guan Sheng Emperor, and it was initially worshipped in a civilian residence in Jinshan District during the early years of the Guangxu Emperor. In 1936, the statue of Guan Sheng Emperor was moved to Longxiaoding in Jiufen. In 1948, the Quanzhong Hall was established at the original site, and it also worshipped Fu You Emperor, Si Ming True Lord, Huo Luo Spirit Official, and Wu Mu Emperor, collectively known as the Five Sheng En Main Lords. The temple was built at its current site in 1950, and Quanzhong Hall was relocated to the new site the following year. In 1976, the name was changed to Shengming Palace. Due to its high terrain, the platform in front of the palace is extremely spacious, making it not only possible to appreciate the beauty of the temple but also to take in the natural scenery of the surrounding coastal area. Shengming Palace is the central temple for various activities in Jiufen, so every year, the welcoming of Mazu starts and ends at Shengming Palace.
