Lin投 Park was first planted with over 90,000 casuarina trees along the coast of Lin投 in 1946. By February 1953, when the park was established, the casuarina trees had already grown into a lush green canopy. The Military Martyrs' Shrine, located at the end of the park's entrance path, was originally known as the "Penghu Military Cemetery" and was built in 1954. It was the first military cemetery built in Taiwan. The shrine was renovated in 1986 and its main building was rebuilt into a three-story structure, which was completed in 1989. Inside the shrine, there is a monument with the inscription "Hao Qi Chang Cun" ( Eternal Righteousness), which was written by Yu Dawei, the Minister of National Defense at the time, in 1958, during the 823 Shelling. The monument commemorates the officers and soldiers who died in the war, including Ji Xingwen, Zhao Jixiang, and Zhang Jie. The Lin投 village was named after the abundance of Lin投 trees that grew along the southeast creek. It is said that the current Lin投 Park and the large stretch of beach to the east were once covered with these trees. The Lin投 tree is an excellent species that can withstand strong winds and fix sand, making it well-suited to Penghu's unique climate. However, only a small patch of these trees remains on the north side of the park, while the rest have been cleared and replaced with casuarina trees or other flowers. Lin投 Park's beach stretches across three villages: Jianshan, Lin投, and Aimen, measuring over 3,000 meters long. It is the longest beach in Penghu, surrounding the coast of Xihu Township. The beach has fine and dense sand, and the seawater is crystal clear, making it a clean and beautiful white coral debris beach. The park is an ideal spot to experience the sea and sand, with shade, tranquility, pavilions, and wooden chairs providing a perfect place to rest and escape the heat after enjoying the beach activities. The park's convenient location makes it easy to access the long and narrow beach stretching from Jianshan and Lin投 to Aimen.
