The Nei Double Creek Nature Center is located at the southeastern corner of Shi-Lin District. Covering an area of 104 hectares, it is the largest forest nature park in Taipei. Rich in ecological and topographic features, it rivals the beauty of Xi-tou (溪頭), and thus is also known as "Taipei's Little Xi-tou". The Taipei City Government's Land Engineering Office invested in its construction and built hiking trails, an observation deck, and an industrial road that connect the Nei Double Creek mountainous areas of Nei-Hu and Shi-Lin Districts. The office also integrated resources from Nei Double Creek Forest, the nature park, Bi-shan Campsite, Bai-shi Lake rural community, and the surrounding landscape ecology. The "Bi-xi Bridge" at the center's entrance features stone carvings of the Taiwanese bullfrog on both ends. The bridge's railing has a semicircular viewing platform where visitors can observe the stream flowing through Nei Double Creek and the peculiar rocks on Shi-tou Mountain. A giant wooden lookout made of wutai (a type of black wood) stands along the hiking trail. Its four pillars preserve their original shape and the structure looks magnificent. At the entrance, there is a plum flower-shaped plaza where visitors can rest. Once atop the 6-meter high lookout, one can see Da-lun-wei Mountain and Yuan-shan-zi Mountain in the distance. The center also features a solar photovoltaic demonstration system. By using solar energy, it achieves the effects of energy saving and carbon reduction. Through simple and easy interactive experiences, the system provides demonstrations and education to the public. This area belongs to the Bi-xi catchment area which has an abundant water supply. It serves as a cradle for nurturing ecology. With a terrain situated at the confluence of the old Xue-shan mountain range and the emerging Da-tun Mountain range, it has rich ecological resources and varied landscapes. This provides the public with a recreational environment that combines living, leisure, and ecology.
