Having been tea farmers for generations, Piaoyi owns 12 hectares of high-mountain tea gardens in Nantou, Taiwan, and is the first Taiwanese teaware company to earn both the Taiwan Excellence Award and the Good Design Product Mark. Convinced that young people and foreigners were drifting away from whole-leaf tea—and the health benefits it brings—because traditional Chinese brewing seemed too complicated, we introduced the world’s first easy-steep teaware, the “Piaoyi Cup,” in 1984. In 1987 the product won the Gold Medal at Japan’s International Invention Exposition (World Genius Convention).
