"Longting" is a 600-meter-long southeast-facing geological formation composed of alternating tuff and basalt layers, formed into a flat marine platform after millions of years of wave erosion. The lava flow, during its movement and coverage, was compressed by various tectonic forces, creating dynamic folds, enhanced by algae of varying hues that emphasized the three-dimensionality of the folded linear patterns. Viewing the platform from the summit of the scree cone reveals undulating curves of green, white, gray, and brown. As a whole, the structure resembles a dragon coiled in the clear blue skies and seas, giving it its name. Broadly speaking, the term "Longting" refers to three continuous marine platforms, with nearby smaller platforms symbolizing the head and pearl of the dragon, vividly lifelike. Seen from above, the white spray from waves crashing on the platform looks like a white dragon in motion. The entire scene is visible from the Dashi Scenic Area's viewing deck and can also be observed by descending via the man-made stone steps near the pavilion to another viewing platform. Walking down the gentle slopes reaches the base of the marine platform, where one can closely observe geological features such as tofu rock and potholes.
