Neimen Muqie is the ancestral land of the Siraya people. Founded in 1868, Muqie Church stands as the region's spiritual center and ranks as the third oldest Christian church in Taiwan. In 1871, British photographer John Thomson was invited by Dr. James L. Maxwell on a multi-day journey through southern Taiwan. During this trip, Thomson captured dozens of photographs of Muqie Church, creating one of the most precious sets of images in Taiwan's history. Today, following multiple renovations, the pristine white church continues to tower between the vast blue sky and rugged ridges, guiding generations of Muqie residents. Nestled on a hillslope near the church, the Muqie Suspension Bridge is a distinctive attraction measuring approximately 200 meters in length and located within the Shice Mountain Trail. From a distance, it appears as a silvery ribbon spanning between two peaks; walking across the lush green-encased bridge offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountain forest.
