The White Lighthouse is located on the southern side of Liuchiu Island, atop the western hillside of Thick Stone Reef. It is an international lighthouse also known as the "White Light House." Built in 1929, it stands approximately 10 meters from its base to the top and 88 meters from sea level to the top. It is equipped with a day-and-night automatic beacon system and, along with the Eluanbi Lighthouse in Kenting National Park, serves as an important navigational guide for fishing boats. For enthusiasts who enjoy observing fireflies, the area is highly suitable for such activities from the vernal equinox to the end of autumn annually. As night falls, the grassy patches beside the lighthouse roadways reveal a scene of shimmering lights like constellations on the ground and twinkling stars in the air. The male and female *Acrythopoma coreyi* (a species of lanternfly) eagerly ignite their glowing signals, lighting up the quiet summer nights. Meanwhile, Swinhoe's pit vipers (*Pareas swinhonis*) and brown tigers (*Paracanthon leptoleucus*) compete for space, resting unashamedly atop nearby banyan tree aerial roots. Their composure in this dramatic scenario leaves observers unable to suppress their smiles.
