Located in Dewen Village, Sandimen Township, Pingtung County, Taiwan, the Dewen Scenic Area is a popular destination for those seeking to experience the natural beauty of the mountainous region. At an elevation of 800 meters, Dewen Village offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. The village is home to several attractions, including the Guwangshan Ancient Trail, Dewen Hunter's School, and Dele Park, which showcase the unique culture of the Rukai people. The village covers an area of 1560 hectares and is surrounded by winding mountain roads that offer stunning views of rugged peaks and deep valleys. As winter approaches, the area transforms into a colorful spectacle with a succession of blooming flowers, including plum blossoms, cherry blossoms, and Japanese apricot blossoms. The village is predominantly inhabited by the Paiwan people, and visitors can see traditional aboriginal artifacts, such as stone-made house walls, tables, chairs, and totems. However, please note that this area is a mountainous control zone, and visitors are required to obtain an entry permit before entering. The village has also installed numerous aboriginal totems and installation art pieces, blending natural beauty with local cultural characteristics. This allows visitors to appreciate the natural scenery while experiencing the unique culture of the aboriginal people. A century-old tree, a Budai tree, had once fallen due to disease and decay; but through pruning and care, it has been restored to its former glory.
