The Western-style mansion within the Ou Co settlement is not only beautiful but also the first such structure in Kinmen. Built by Ouyang Zhongyuan, who then traded in places like Singapore and Malaysia, he sent funds back to his hometown in Kinmen to construct this building after making substantial profits. Completed in 1918, this luxurious Western-style mansion was praised as the "Ou Co Building" at the time and was also considered a catalyst for the trend among overseas Chinese expatriates to return and build Western-style mansions.
