Dongpu Cliff, also known as Father-Doesn’t-Know-Son Cliff, lies at the entrance to the Batongguan Historic Trail. It is a huge, weathered-shale escarpment notorious for constant rockfalls. The perilous terrain inspired its vivid name: even a father and son walking together here would be unable to help one another. Although the “Father-and-Son Cliff” stretch is still hair-raising, the exposed section is now fitted with handrails and ropes to grip, greatly increasing hiking safety.
