Zhao Jia Yao was founded in March 1988, located in Da Ya District, Taichung City, with a focus on producing daily-use pottery. Their hand-painted lotus tea sets are a signature product, deliberately distinguishing themselves from the general market through hand-painted ceramics. Their business goal is to deeply cultivate and inherit local culture, hoping to promote their skills and apply them to everyday life. The three brothers, Zhao Sheng Jie, Zhao Sheng Yong, and Zhao Chong Yuan, grew up in a family with a craft background. Their grandfather (Zhao A Jing) and father (Zhao Yi Xiong) were skilled woodworkers, specializing in making precise wooden products for export to Japan. As a result, the brothers chose to study fine arts in school. During their time at school, they were exposed to various art and craft fields, including sculpture, photography, ceramics, painting, and design. The eldest brother, Zhao Sheng Jie, graduated and became an apprentice at Ji Ji Tian Xing Yao, a ceramics factory, as recommended by his teacher. During the two years he spent at the factory, which was undergoing a transition to producing daily-use pottery, Zhao Sheng Jie learned about firing and glazing. He eventually returned to his hometown, Da Ya District, Taichung City, and established "Yao Tao Fang," a professional ceramics studio. The brothers later renamed their studio "Zhao Jia Yao." In recent years, they have designed a series of modern tea sets, which have been well-received through their distribution channels in department stores and ceramics shops. The Zhao brothers have held solo exhibitions at the Taichung City Cultural Center and the Mei Lin Art Museum in Chiayi. Their creative focus has been on integrating their art into everyday life. They have been creating tea sets and tableware, collaborating with "Geng Du Yuan" on events like the "Lotus Appreciation Event." Zhao Sheng Jie has been actively involved in the development and design of new ceramic products. He was selected for the "Daily-use Ceramics" category in the 2003 and 2004 annual ceramic product evaluations. In 2003, he was invited to exhibit at the "Creative Ceramics Pavilion" during the National Social Reconstruction Conference.
