Wang An House, located in Zhongshe Ancient House in Zhongshe Village, Wang An Township, Penghu, was originally a garden house with over a hundred Minnan-style buildings, reflecting the prosperity and flourishing of its era. The original name of Zhongshe Ancient House was "Huazhai," and at its very center there was a small hill, which residents called the “flower heart,” meaning the center of the house. Huazhai settlement is one of the most intact traditional settlements preserved in Penghu. The name “Huazhai” comes from its terrain: surrounded by hills that resemble petals encircling a flower’s center. The ancestors built houses near the flower heart (the top of the hill), hence the name. Later, Mr. Chiang Ching-kuo, during a visit, noted that Huazhai was at the exact center of Zhongshe Village and renamed it “Zhongshe Ancient House.” The entire village is composed of ancient houses of great age, featuring a unique “single seal” layout of three-pavilion houses. In terms of preservation and maintenance, it is one of the most complete ancient house settlements, holding significant historical and cultural value. It has already been listed among the world’s one hundred sites at risk of disappearing, and is officially registered as a “Preserved Ancient House Area” by the Cultural Heritage Administration. 【Suggested Stay Duration】 1 hour
