Located in Xinyi Township, Nantou County, at an upper stream of Zhuowu溪, with an altitude of approximately 530 meters, it was the old settlement of the Bunun tribe's Bakuras. Wakr'as is a Bunun term that refers to a place with a flat terrain, ample water resources, and situated on the riverbank. In the later period of Japanese rule, the Japanese relocated the local Bunun inhabitants to the present-day Dili and Tannan areas for easier governance. Subsequently, Bakuras became a sparsely populated area. Currently, it still preserves many remnants of old slate houses, and the nearby ecological landscape is remarkably rich.
