At the foot of Bagua Mountain in Nanya Village, Shetou Township, Changhua County, next to the Shanzue Road (County Road 137), lies the largest architectural complex in Taiwan - Qijiao Liu's Residence and Yuemei Chi Liu's Residence. The former has 16 protective dragons, while the latter has 13. These structures represent a form of defensive gathering and refuge for the Hakka and other weaker groups during the early migration and conflicts, where they settled at the foot of the mountain.
The complex was determined by a geomancer to be a "hairy crab穴" (a favorable burial site), so it was specifically designed with inner protective dragons on the left and right as "相揹厝" where the houses are connected back to back, forming two large claws like a crab; the outer protective dragons are like "crab legs," and the main body is the "crab body." The name of this complex is "Ningyuan Hall," and its orientation is slightly south of east-west.
The other complex, named "Tuan Yuan Hall," was initially determined by a geomancer to be a "soil louse穴" (an unfavorable site), so a crescent-shaped large pool was built in front of the house to stabilize it. Additionally, water channels were built to connect the protective dragons. The orientation of this complex is also slightly south of east-west.
