Due to the 921 earthquake, the transportation to and from Fengshan was inconvenient. In order to connect the village to the outside world, a scenic road was built at a cost of over NT$170 million, and was finally completed in 2007. Later, the bridge's landscape facilities and surrounding greening projects were completed, and themed scenic spots were planned. The bridge is a single-span basket-type steel arch bridge, 140 meters long, with no piers in the middle. The bridge's abutments on both sides use caisson foundations, and the central suspension cables separate the two-lane roadway and pedestrian paths. The approach roads on both ends are 280 meters long and 7.5 meters wide. The bridge is the longest in Chiayi County. It connects to the nearby Soil and Stone Flow Park. At night, the bridge's ever-changing lights cross the valley, illuminating the quiet valley and making one's eyes light up. Fengshan, the highest flat-land rural village in Taiwan, is endowed with beautiful scenery of high mountains, streams, and boulders. After the completion of the Shiguduan Bridge, not only has transportation been made more convenient, but it has also allowed more people to walk into this rich and beautiful natural scenery and experience the local rich cultural heritage.
