Niu Tou Mountain, located at the northeastern seacoast of Green Island, is a landmark of Green Island. It silently lies on the northeastern cape, watching over Green Island and every visitor who arrives. Heading north from Nanliao Fishing Port, you can reach Niu Tou Mountain by passing through attractions such as the Green Island Visitor Center, Chai Kou Beach, and Lu Zi Mountain Resort along the way. Surrounded by sea on three sides, the mountain's summit is a vast meadow of lush, emerald grass, making it an ideal place for enjoying ocean views, watching tides, and admiring sunsets. The sunset at Niu Tou Mountain is particularly renowned as one of the most spectacular sights in Green Island. Unlike observing sunsets from the flat terrain of Sunrise Hot Spring or Green Island Lighthouse, watching from a high vantage allows you to witness the sun slowly dipping behind the Central Mountain Range before vanishing entirely, offering a unique, awe-inspiring beauty. Niu Tou Mountain also provides an unobstructed view of Lou Men Yan, located approximately 300 meters offshore at the northernmost tip of Green Island. Comprising a series of small coral reef rock formations rising above sea level, the area features a prominent rock that has been eroded by waves to form a naturally created horizontal tunnel through its center. Viewed from Green Island, it resembles an archway, hence its name "Lou Men Yan." This sea-eroded cave system is a signature geological feature of Green Island. From inside the passage, motorboats can glide through beneath the breathtaking natural arch, offering perspectives of the dynamic underwater topography and summer scenes highlighted by crashing waves against the surrounding reefs.
