Fengyi Academy, located beside the City God Temple, was established in 1814 and designated as a third-level cultural heritage site in Republic of China Year 74 (1985). Constructed by Zhang Tingqin, a candidate for the Xun Dao position and Ju Gong Sheng (tribute student) of Fengshan, the academy originally featured 37 rooms. Inside, it worshipped the deities Wen Chang, Kui Chang, and Cang Sheng, and included tables and chairs. It served as a venue for scholars to study and take their annual academic exams, with its architectural details demonstrating refined craftsmanship. As the largest remaining academy in Taiwan, Fengyi Academy's screen wall in front of its gate hall and stone drums flanking the main gate reflect the meticulous design of its original construction. After renovations planned in Republic of China Year 98 (2009), the site was enhanced with many Q-style sculptures and two exhibition spaces providing detailed introductions to the academy's history and artifact arrangements, combining education with entertainment.
