Driving along the north coast, you'll discover this white sandy beach, suitable for enjoying the sea view and sea breeze, stretching for one kilometer with shell-like white sand. Under the reflection of the blue sky and sea, it's a breathtaking sight. The Baishan Bay beach, known as the "Kenting of Taiwan" since the Japanese colonial era, is a natural semi-circular bay surrounded by rich coral reefs and limestone, and has long been famous for its "white sand and clear water."
Visitors to this place can not only enjoy the fine texture of the shell sand beneath their feet but also participate in various water activities such as swimming, fishing, sailing, diving, and playing with surfboards, which are the most popular summer activities. The small hills next to the beach are also ideal for paragliding. The fine white sand in Baishan Bay is made up of coral reefs and shells broken down by the waves from the shallow sea and then carried onto the shore, forming the beautiful "shell sand" after constant washing and crushing.
When strong sea winds blow over the white sand, the fine shell sand piles up into neat and beautiful wave-like patterns, creating the "sand texture" landscape. Local residents, in order to prevent the invasion of windblown sand into the inland areas, have developed a unique method to combat windblown sand. They set up rows of neat and dense bamboo fences on the sandy hills at the boundary between the beach and the inland areas and plant plants with strong sand-fixing abilities, such as casuarina and palm trees, forming another kind of landscape.
