Originally used to store raw wood, during the prosperous logging era of the 50s and 60s, a large crane (a type of hoist) was used to transport logs into the ponds for soaking, extending their usability. Over time, the surroundings of the wood storage ponds have been landscaped with maple trees, camphor trees, and bald cypresses. The area is now surrounded by mountains, making it a picturesque spot. When visiting, take a moment to stop and admire the beautiful scenery.
