Situated beside State Highway No. 1 in Takuhu Village, the Takuhu Tomato Society was constructed around the Japanese colonial period as a joint venture between Taiwanese and imperial Japanese businesses. During its operation, it exclusively produced tomatoes for export. After World War II, it briefly operated as a pineapple canning factory before ultimately closing and being abandoned ever since. Within the abandoned industrial site, a century-old flame tree (Delonix regia) is planted. Each year during flowering season, its vivid red flowers contrast with the silent, weathered brick chimney and gray walls, creating a lonely yet beautiful atmosphere. This unique scenery often draws visitors to stop and take photos, making it one of Takuhu's hidden gems for cultural and historical sightseeing or light travel experiences.
