Mei Ting was built in the late 1930s, and was once the summer villa of Mr. Yu Youren, known as the "Sage of Grass Script." It is now a city-designated historic building. The building has a special architectural style and retains the Japanese wooden framework style. The RC air-raid shelter in the basement is in the style of the early stage of the Pacific War. The exterior wall of the garden is constructed in the form of a crenelated wall. The back yard is shaded with lush green trees, elegant and verdant, overlooking the Beitou Creek, with the sound of flowing water. On the column at the entrance, there is the inscription "Mei Ting" written by Mr. Yu Youren himself.
"Mei Ting" is a Japanese-style residential building that witnessed the wartime era, built in accordance with the terrain, divided into upper and lower levels. The upper level faces Zhongshan Road, and the front facade is on the ground level, with a Japanese wooden framework. The wall construction is carefully done, with a damp-proof partitioning mortar wall, and the inner layer of the wooden framework is plastered with "red clay sand," while the outer layer is finished with white plaster. The exterior features a stone base, fish-scale wall panels, black tiles, and wooden lattices as the architectural style. The lower level is made of reinforced concrete, used as an air-raid shelter, directly connecting to the backyard. Its Japanese architectural structure and the underground air-raid trench reflect the special significance of the large air-raid trench opposite, all possessing historical value.
