For the latest information, please refer to the official announcements of the Cultural Affairs Department of the New Taipei City Government. Click here to visit. Zhānlóngshān (Dragon-Slayer Hill) was named after a ridge cut through by the Da’an Canal. In 1955 archaeologists uncovered a prehistoric cultural layer here. During recent construction of the Bannan metro line and Tucheng Hospital, numerous artifacts were unearthed around the hill, leading to its designation as a municipal archaeological site. Combined with park facilities, it has become the living Zhānlóngshān Archaeological Site Cultural Park. A Neolithic site on the southwestern corner of the Taipei Basin, Zhānlóngshān sits on a highland where river and hill meet. Dating from 2,800 to 2,300 years ago, it belongs to the Yuánshān culture of the Neolithic period. Its relics—mainly polished stone tools and patterned pottery—are preserved in situ within the park. Using the pottery motifs as design elements, several interpretive panels stand in the open areas, guiding visitors through millennia. Family fun and energy-burning: the park features a sandbox for mock digs, hiding replica prehistoric potsherds and stone tools waiting to be discovered, plus a rinse area for easy clean-up. The hillside slide zone offers multiple cement slides, climbing ropes, and rock walls—children’s favorites. Scan the QR code with your phone to enter “Lost Dreamscape” and start an AR puzzle game to uncover the park’s archaeological secrets!
