Sacred Worship of the Main Deity: Water Immortal Royal Festival Date: the 10th day of the 10th lunar month. The Taichang Sub‑Community Hall (Water Immortal Palace) is one of the four major ancient temples in Penghu, dedicated to five Water Immortals: Dayu, Wuyuan, Qu Yuan, Wang Bo, and Li Bai. In the 36th year of Emperor Kangxi (1697 CE), when the inspector Yu Yonghe was touring Taiwan, he encountered a violent storm and was able to reach Penghu safely by “划水仙” (the method of a sea‑wrecked person paddling with both hands from the bow). He subsequently ordered the establishment of a shrine by guerrilla officer Xue Kui to honor the deity.
