Play Guide – It takes less than 15 minutes walking along the trail to see the waterfall. The renovated wooden boardwalk trail is well-maintained and suitable for short walks. You can fully immerse yourself in the forest atmosphere and enjoy the scenery of the Luoshan Waterfall. Deep within the Luoshan Recreational Area, the waterfall is surrounded by a parking lot, shops, and restrooms. Originally, visitors could only hear the sound of the waterfall without a clear view. However, the new wooden boardwalk trail follows the mountain contours, with a panoramic viewing deck along the stream where visitors can look up to admire the elegant sight of Luoshan Waterfall, resembling a silver chain hanging among lush greenery, or look down to gaze at the Laozi Creek’s canyon and listen to the babbling streams flowing over giant rocks.
The Luoshan Waterfall Trail is a loop trail, taking about 20-30 minutes to complete. Handrails are installed throughout for hikers' convenience and safety. As you walk, you can enjoy the healing energy radiated by the broadleaf forest composed of plants such as blood桐 (blood桐), 山蘇花 (山蘇 or possibly a native plant), and 姑婆芋 (possibly "butterfly ginger" or its local English equivalent).
The Luoshan Waterfall, suspended between valleys, is part of the upstream Yancheng Creek, a tributary of Laozi Creek, and located near the coastal mountain range's fault line. Formed by tectonic movements, the waterfall has two tiers, with the upper layer dropping 100 meters and the lower layer dropping 20 meters, totaling a 120-meter cascade. From the trail’s viewing deck and parking lot, the graceful silhouette of Luoshan Waterfall is visible. For a closer view, walk across the arch bridge to observe the flowing Laozi Creek to the east or gaze westward at the Hualien-Taitung Valley and Central Mountain Range, capturing the rustic scenery of the Luoshan Organic Village.
Nearby attractions include the mud volcano and the Luoshan Big Fish Pond. After visiting the waterfall, you can explore the mud volcano marvel, sample handmade tofu made with mud spring brine, and learn about the aquatic life in the Big Fish Pond, while enjoying the tranquil charm of Luoshan.
