The “Xindian文史館 (Xindian Museum of History and Culture),” affiliated with the Xindian Library, is located inside Magong Park. Its 120-ping exhibition space houses a permanent gallery displaying everyday objects used by earlier generations (most Xindian residents are descendants of immigrants from Zhangzhou and Quanzhou in southern Fujian) and historical materials on the development of greater Xindian, plus a special-exhibition gallery whose theme changes every six months. Admission is free, and the museum cooperates with local schools in teaching local culture, so student visits are frequent. The documents and artifacts in the collection—mostly Qing dynasty, Japanese-era, and Republican-period items once used by local ancestors—were donated by thirty-eight enthusiastic Xindian residents. The collection now numbers more than 620 pieces. Static displays emphasize “images,” while dynamic displays are divided into seven zones: Qing period, Japanese occupation, early post-retrocession, modern Xindian, and future Xindian, plus “Bamboo Snake-Cage Area,” “Waterwheel Area,” “Telephone Mechanism Exhibition Zone,” and “Architectural Design Exhibition Zone.”
