Both kids and adults enjoy the fun of painting lanterns. Traditional lanterns are not only complicated to make, but the hand-painted auspicious motifs also demand exquisite skill. For this reason, Kuang Yuan set up a DIY lantern classroom where children and grown-ups alike can share the joy of crafting (and painting) lanterns. Different festivals feature special DIY sessions—Halloween pumpkin-lantern painting, New-Year Ruyi lanterns, and more—giving families plenty of choices. While working, participants can sense the care and affection a master lantern-painter puts into every brushstroke, and the finished, brightly colored lantern can be taken home as a souvenir.
