The city of Toufen has a large population and has long been a major industrial and commercial center in Miaoli County. However, in the early days, there was no suitable venue for cultural and artistic performances. If residents wanted to enjoy cultural performances, they had to go to Miaoli City or Hsinchu. In response to this, the city government applied for funding from the Council for Cultural Affairs and chose the Zhongshan Hall and Zhongzheng Hall next to the Toufen City Hall to renovate, creating a well-equipped performance venue in Toufen. The Zhongshan Hall is located in a densely populated area with convenient transportation. After renovation, the facilities are quite complete, with a stage, sound, lighting, and air conditioning all meeting a high standard. The stage was particularly deepened and widened during the renovation, providing enough space for large performance groups to deliver perfect performances. The Zhongzheng Hall was converted from a library, and its first floor is now a multi-functional exhibition area of about 100 pings. It can host exhibitions, conferences, and community activities. On average, two to three exhibitions are held there every month, making it an important cultural venue in Miaoli. After renovation, Zhongshan Hall and Zhongzheng Hall have become venues for various artistic and cultural performances, enriching the spiritual lives of Miaoli residents and successfully bringing culture into people's lives.
