桃園市楊梅區校前路49號
President Chang Fang-jay was entrusted by the local people of Yangmei in 1948 to organize Yangmei High School. He worked with local gentlemen to build the school through self-reliance and was appointed as the first principal. He then established eight junior high school branches of Yangmei High School in southern Taoyuan, laying the foundation for education in the area. In the early days of the school's establishment, it was not easy. Every day, after the sixth class, the entire school's faculty and students would manually transport stones from the Lao Keng Creek to build their own campus. This collective effort fostered a deeper bond among them, which became a shared memory for early alumni. The revitalization of the "Yangmei Story Park" not only allows alumni to revisit the spirit of self-reliance in building the school but also showcases the cultural heritage and dedication to education of the Hakka people, making it a worthwhile experience for tourists to explore the unique local culture of Yangmei. The principal's residence, filled with love and dedication to nurturing talent, was built in the post-war period with an eclectic style that blends Eastern and Western elements. The exterior features extensive use of rough-cast stone, creating beautiful lines. With an interior space of about 50 pings, the residence includes a living room, study, master bedroom, children's study, and communal quarters. Notably, the "dormitory for students" provided accommodation for students with limited mobility or from impoverished families, allowing them to live alongside Principal Chang's family, sharing meals and study time. During summer breaks, this dormitory served as the venue for setting examination questions for entrance exams. This space holds significant historical value. The Xi Zhao Lu, located just across the street from the principal's residence, once served as a dormitory for Yangmei High School faculty and staff. Originally, each door and window corresponded to one household, totaling nine households. Today, Xi Zhao Lu has been repurposed as a space for art exhibitions and multifunctional performances, promoting the cultural and artistic heritage of Yangmei and the Hakka community.
