Nanking Village, situated along the Officers' Street of Meiou Village (Mingde), was once home to high-ranking naval officers. It had served as the residence for high-ranking officers of the 11th Japanese Imperial Naval Air Fleet during the Japanese period, hence featuring mainly Japanese-style architectural bungalows with spacious courtyards surrounding each house. The size of each officer's dwelling averaged approximately 1-2 hundred square pings. Former Japanese Prime Minister Nakasone Yasuhiro once resided here as well. After the war, the area remained occupied by naval generals and their families, making it a genuine "Village of Generals."
