The Osmanthus Garden is located in Longfeng Village, Shiding District, also known as Osmanthus Village, and is the largest osmanthus ecological garden in Taiwan. It is one of Taiwan's ancient tea areas, situated at an elevation of over 300 meters, with soil containing gravel and moderate rainfall throughout the year. As early as the 50s and 60s, when the tea industry was thriving, local tea farmers used osmanthus flowers as a fragrance for baking tea leaves, increasing the added value of tea. For every 100 kilograms of tea, 25 kilograms of osmanthus flowers were required, so a large number of osmanthus trees were planted next to the tea gardens.
From October to April every year is the osmanthus season. After August, the whole village, young and old, would go into the osmanthus forest to pick fresh osmanthus flowers, forming a unique local landscape and an important life memory for local residents. In the spring, you can see butterflies flying everywhere; in the summer, you can see fireflies dotted among the flowers and grass; and in the autumn and winter, you can smell the fragrance of osmanthus flowers, making it a worthwhile visit.
The garden's specialty dishes all feature "osmanthus" as an ingredient, including osmanthus drunken chicken, tea oil handmade noodles, and osmanthus fragrant trotters, as well as osmanthus braised flavor and osmanthus handmade biscuits that can be taken as souvenirs. Additionally, tea brewing services are provided. Besides dining and tea tasting, the Osmanthus Garden also has an osmanthus alley and a hundred-year-old osmanthus walkway, attracting many tourists who come to enjoy the mountain and forest scenery while savoring good tea and snacks, spending a leisurely afternoon tea time.
