The East Gate Night Market in Hualien consists of four parts: the Fucheng Night Market, Mainland Provinces Street, Aboriginal Street, and the Ziqiang Night Market. The East Gate Night Market is located in the Phase VI Redevelopment Area; visitors can reach it by bus from Hualien Train Station. The night market's pedestrian pathway is paved with granite bricks, a combination of India Black and Quanzhou White. Each square tile measures 1.5 meters in length and width and 10 centimeters in thickness. Heavy cranes were required during construction to lift the tiles due to their weight and size. Despite years of heavy foot traffic, the pavement remains resilient.
**Fucheng Night Market:** Features a variety of classic Taiwanese snacks, local delicacies, and traditional children's toys, including stinky tofu, grilled sausages, fresh-pressed fruit juice, and pinball machines or dart shooting attractions.
**Aboriginal Street:** Constructed using wood and bamboo, exuding a natural and primitive atmosphere. The street showcases fresh-picked wild vegetables, sautéed wild boar, stone plate-grilled meat, and traditional indigenous dishes such as "A-Li-Beng-Beng" and a unique brewed millet wine. This allows guests to savor local tribal flavors while offering a sense of homeliness to Aboriginal residents.
**Mainland Provinces Street:** Built with rustic red bricks and adorned with red lanterns, the street evokes a nostalgic, retro ambiance. It aims to attract vendors serving cuisines representative of provinces such as Guangdong, Guangxi, Henan, Hebei, Hunan, and Jiangxi.
**Ziqiang Night Market:** Most stalls are located at the latter part of the Aboriginal Street, featuring long-established, highly popular local shops with decades of reputation. These attract a constant stream of customers from all over.
