Dabwan Peanut Brittle has a century-long history, emphasizing pure handmade production, passed down through four generations. The fourth-generation successor, "Zheng Wansheng," took over and established the flagship store, "Chihkan Flagship Store," opposite the Grade 1 historic site "Chihkan Tower" in Tainan City. The store retains traditional flavors while improving the in-store environment and hygiene quality. The packaging has been upgraded to extend the freshness period. With four generations of skills passed down, the store insists on making and selling the peanut brittle on the same day, cutting it fresh. They use fresh peanuts, paired with low-sweetness malt sugar and selected granulated sugar, cooked over a wood-fired stove for over an hour. Throughout the process, manual stirring is required to avoid burning. Therefore, the peanut brittle made this way has a more delicate and dense texture than machine-made ones and is less sticky.
