2024-04-11
台北市中正區重慶南路二段6巷10號
Located in the southern part of Taipei City, the "Sun Yun-xuan Science & Humanities Memorial Museum" was the residence of Mr. Sun Yun-xuan when he served as the Premier of the Executive Yuan. Mr. Sun moved in in 1980 and passed away in 2006, living here for a total of 26 years. Many important decisions and policy directions during Mr. Sun's tenure as Premier were conceived here. After Mr. Sun's passing, in recognition of his contributions to Taiwan, the Taipei City Government Cultural Bureau designated it as a municipal heritage site in 2006, and entrusted the Sun Yun-xuan Academic Foundation with its operation and management, aiming to make full use of the heritage site.
The residence, covering 866 ping, includes the heritage building, auxiliary new buildings, and a garden. Within the heritage site, which combines traditional and Western styles, there are permanent exhibitions showcasing the prosperity and history of Taiwan's economic development, as well as glimpses of Mr. Sun's personal life. There is also a special exhibition area where the exhibition content is regularly updated. The newly built structures, designed based on the texture of the heritage site, serve as cultural and artistic exchange spaces for various lectures, performances, and courses. Surrounded by the buildings, the garden features Mr. Sun's favorite fish pond, magnolia flowers planted by his wife, and towering ancient trees that reach high into the sky.
The establishment of the memorial museum aims to highlight Mr. Sun's spirit of dedicated service and his exemplary role, and to provide a cultural space that is both traditional and modern, profound yet approachable, through various means.
