At the front terminus of the Jingualiao Creek Bikeway lies Jingualiao Tea-Fragrance Eco-Village. Pinglin District in New Taipei City, renowned for its pouchong tea, has long been a vital tea-producing hub in northern Taiwan. The village earned the name “Tea-Fragrance Eco-Village” because nearly every household makes its living growing and crafting tea. With the opening of the Bei-Yi Highway, Pinglin became a key waystation along the route, cultivating two flagship varieties—Wenshan pouchong and Qingxin oolong—to anchor its tea industry. Pinglin’s tea gardens blanket the hills flanking County Road 42, the Jingualiao Creek farm road, and the slopes beside the Bei-Yi Highway. Drifting slowly along the road, one is enchanted by the undulating waves of emerald terraces. The Beishi and Jingualiao creeks meander through the landscape, carving beautiful deep pools and ravines—hidden realms worthy of Tao Yuanming’s Peach Blossom Spring, serene and tranquil. Thus, Pinglin stands as a mountain-water tea country blessed with both natural splendor and cultural charm.
