Are you eager for an expedition into the pristine wilderness of a mountain forest? Want to plan a light hiking route suitable for both adults and children? The Fu Ren Mountain Trail between Yangmei's Laozhuang Road and Yangsheng Golf Course is the perfect destination! This narrow hillscape was once a military restricted zone, opened to the public after the martial law lifted in 1949. Many hikers have since carved paths, gradually transforming this area into a popular hiking spot. At the trailhead on Fu Ren Road, a large altitude-indicative map with marked elevation is set up, and "loving hiking canes" are provided for hikers. Most of the trail's elevation is between 240-360 meters, with a gentle incline. Only the ridge line reaches nearly 600 meters. The outer loop stretches about six kilometers, connecting First Mountain, Second Mountain, and the golf course. Three main trails cross it: the top trail borders the Yangsheng Golf Course, the bottom trail near Laozhuang Street, and numerous small branches weave throughout like an outdoor maze, providing a sense of fun wandering. First-time hikers are advised to walk the main route, choosing either left-out and right-back or right-out and left-back, with the trip lasting about two hours. Compared to many mountain trails paved with concrete steps, the muddy natural trails of Fu Ren Mountain allow closer immersion into nature. Steep sections are equipped with ropes and staircases made from wooden planks, pebbles, and recycled tires. Decades of restricted access have preserved its most rustic forest appearance. Towering trees of acacia, camphor, nanmu, and kaya (Cordia) create a canopy of shade, letting hikers experience the refreshing breeze and the invigorating aroma of pure phytoncides. Occasionally, you might observe butterflies fluttering or see large rhinoceros beetles, adding delightful surprises to your travel memories.
