Taiwan incense cedar (Calocedrus formosana) is one of Taiwan’s five precious timber species. In Neicheng Village, Zhongliao Township, the “Incense Cedar Giant Trees Grove” now preserves 88 towering specimens, all planted during the Japanese colonial era and thus about a century old; the area is currently a government-designated ecological conservation zone. Starting from the Longfeng Waterfall entrance and following the forest road for roughly 2 km, one finds several dozen incense cedars exceeding 70 years of age. The understory is rich with wild flora, giving the site a pristine character, and the grove serves as the Forestry Bureau’s seed orchard for Taiwan incense cedar.
