In the Penghu area, Tū-sîm (local snacks) is the most famous, with the Minnan flavor left over from the Ming Zheng period, and the Japanese cuisine blended in during the Japanese occupation era. After 1949, a large number of immigrants from various provinces in China entered Taiwan, bringing their hometown flavors. These traditional flavors from various places, after arriving in Taiwan, observed and influenced each other with Taiwan's existing food culture, and merged to create new and unique flavors. The booming economy has also made people not only satisfied with being full, but also pursuing different food flavor changes. Therefore, Tū-sîm is not just a filler between meals, but can become a type of meal in itself.
