The entrance to the Zishali Trail is located at the Purple Butterfly Ecological Park. The trail can be accessed by following the Butterfly Appreciation Trail. "Zishali" is derived from the Rukai language, meaning "an area with many mountain figs." In the past, there were no place names on the mountain. The ancestors of the indigenous people would name a place based on the trees or plants they saw growing in the area. The trail is 3.7 kilometers long, and currently, only the section within the Mau-lin Ecological Park, approximately 2.1 kilometers, is open to the public. This area is rich in bird and insect species. It takes about 50 minutes to complete the walk. It is also an important gathering place for the overwintering purple-spotted butterflies. When visiting to appreciate the butterflies and hike, please do not catch or destroy the habitat. It is recommended to spend about 1.5 hours here. During butterfly watching, vehicles can be parked at the ecological park's parking lot. Please do not disturb the surrounding environment while appreciating the butterflies.
