Venus Gallery was founded in 1980 and is the oldest professional art gallery in Eastern Taiwan. Over the years, it has actively participated in local art and cultural events, environmental protection, and community building. In August 2005, it moved into Warehouse 1-1 in the scenic area and combined resources from government agencies and private enterprises to curate and organize various events. These included "Welding Together in Hualien---Steel Art Creation Camp" in 2005, "Carving the Present---Hualien Port Miniature Stone Sculpture Creation Camp" in 2005, "Rebirth of Form---Fragments and Mosaics Art" in 2007, and "Driftwood Life Aesthetic Workshop" in 2008. These events encouraged community participation in art and cultural performances, which were met with enthusiastic responses. In 2008, the gallery received subsidies from the Council for Cultural Affairs, Taiwan Craft Research Institute, and Taitung Living Art Museum to execute the "Great Beauty of Heaven and Earth‧Universal Connection---Fine Art 1‧2‧3" project, which aimed to promote the development and marketing of cultural creative products in Hualien. Currently, Warehouse 1-1 is in the process of enhancing its hardware and software facilities. The plan is to operate a multi-functional space that integrates an art gallery, small theater, local cultural museum, community art center, and café. The goal is to transform the idle space into a diverse artistic and cultural performance venue.
